Sharing new life in Christ

The Guitar Case

Many kids connect to each other quite easily through one medium: music.  Hundreds of people listen to pop music.. hundreds also listen to heavy alternative.  A lot of people listen to Christian Music also, but a lot more complain that it is just no good.  Hopefully, this page will show you some cool bands that are Christian, and that worship Christ with their music, not some pretty girl or awesome-sounding ideal.  This is in no way intended to offend secular music, but is the writer's opinion, and as his opinion is that he is a child of God and is made to worship him forever, not just during a service, will involve nothing but Christian bands.

Day of Fire  by Randy Anderson Rating: 4.5 (out of 5.0)
Well, when I first listened to this CD, I loved it.  I probably listened to the whole things about three times before I stopped.  So I was immediately in love with such awesome songs of their's as "Through the Fire" and "Cornerstone", but I also began to understand the more meaningful songs such as "Rain Song."  The whole album is a stockhouse of meaningful insights of different Christian aspects, and it has a song dedicated to his wife.. awww.

I looked up some info on the guys who are behind all of this and I was shocked at first not to see any mention God on the first few pages.  I was sure by the lyrics that this was a Christian band, and after looking through several pages, including their on-site journal, I found mention of God's greatness and such, and was pleased.  It appears that this band is trying to appeal to "an aggressive age", and maybe non-beleivers will get hooked on their music, then discover the meaning of the lyrics.

Out of everything else, this was a really good CD, and I recommend picking it up.  I loved the fact that most of the songs had a deep meaning to it, and you had to think about some of them.  It says that God will bring us through anything.. and asks God to be our cornerstone.  I'm looking forward to more work outta this band, and even deeper lyrical meanings as was on this album.

David Crowder Band  by Randy Anderson Rating: 5.0 (out of 5.0)
Slow songs that fill you with the Holy Spirit, fast songs that make you jump up and down, and the songs inbetween that remind you of how amazing your God is, that is the type of music that is played by David Crowder and his band.  God has given this man a talent that not many have, and thank God that he is using it for God's glory!  He is a master of the notes that are played on his CD, and each one makes you want to scream for joy, not because his band is so amazing, but because it reminds you of how powerful our God is!  I could listen to the different CDs all day long and never get tired of hearing the praises!

Even though this review on their Illuminate CD, and not their newest release, I believe they should get some credit for this masterpiece.  Just listening to the riffs that the guitar has to play makes me want to learn to play it myself, because it sounds so cool!  David Crowder is a great band to play in the background of any youth event, and an even greater listen if you just want to sing something praiseful.

I recommend picking up their CD Illuminate, even though there is a new CD of their's out, and listening to every song.  Soon the songs, though some of them are strange at first, will all be stuck in your head, and you will be singing them wherever you go.  This is a great CD and an even greater band, so I give it a 5.0 out of 5.0.

Charlie Hall  by Randy Anderson Rating: 5.0 (out of 5.0)
I heard not too long ago that Charlie Hall had some very distateful songs before his newest CD, Breaking Into Daylight, and that may be true, but this newest album defeats any old rumors about his past work.  His style of music is one of uniqueness, and quite frankly cannot be matched simply because no one is quite sure of what it is.  His lyrics are unlike any other, and you can feel him singing from his heart and as he leads a group into worship.

Truly one of the best songs on the album, "Marvelous Light" is a song that could be listened to over and over again.  His vocal talents on this song are as good as any of his other songs, and believe, that means that they're good.  His style, as stated before, is very unique, and that may be one reason that many people are now falling in love with his music; they've never heard anything like this before!

The rest of his band is also very talented, and after seeing them live at Student Life Tour '06, I have to say I am in love with their bassist Clint, for his hilarious style of playing that causes one to simply watch and wonder.  The Keyboardist is also very good, and plays a variety of instruments, along with the drummer.  It seems that Charlie isn't the only one with musical talent.  I give this CD a 5.0 out of 5.0, and recommend going out and picking it up before they're all gone.
